Around 5 am this same morning 12 months ago I was lying awake in bed trying to decide whether it was too early to take the test. They do say it's good to take first thing in the morning...does 5am constitute 'first thing'? Should I wait a bit longer? Should I get up and have a drink...oh no, will that dilute the sample?
These are some of the thoughts that went through my mind. They lasted about 5 minutes...I am not a very patient person. I took the test. Twice. Just to be sure.
We all know the outcome.
We were having a baby....YAY!!!!!!!
Feeling cautiously excited (just in case it was a mistaken read) I went back to bed and tried to sleep, knowing that if I woke the HH up he would be too bleary eyed to comprehend what I had to say. Waiting, waiting, waiting. Finally I woke him up. It was sometime after 6-6.30am.
From memory I woke him up by shoving the pregnancy test in his face...charming! Once he figured out what the heck I was up to he was pretty excited, and a little stunned (see earlier post about him being skeptical)
So exciting!!
The rest is history. I rang HH from the doctors surgery after going there to confirm it. More excitement.
Rang my Dad 'Happy Birthday Old Man, you're going to be a grandfather'.
Rang my Mum and got her out of a meeting 'Hi Mum, just wanted to tell you that I've sent you some wool'
Mum - 'Louisa, I'm in a meeting"
Me - "Oh, it's just so you can start knitting something for your grandchild"
Mum - didn't actually say much just started yelling kind of hysterically. It was very cool!!!
Fun times. Fun times indeed!

With Nieve i don't remember speaking to Iain on the phone. Was too stunned and he was half asleep on the couch in Amsterdam (he lived there). With Keira it was a birthday prezzie for Iain on teh 8th March last year. Don't you just love it....good on you
